Over-the-counter Mole Removal Creams – How Do They Work?

General Add comments

Derma Tend is one of several over-the-counter mole removal creams. This one is based on the natural herb bloodroot, a well known source of treatment for a number of skin conditions. The sap of bloodroot is, however, very caustic, and while it is effective in destroying moles and warts, it can also burn normal skin. So if you give DermaTend a try, make sure you follow the instructions very carefully.

Other creams use different plant derived products with similar, possibly milder effects. I have seen no comparative studies on the relative effectiveness of these creams, but they do work, and they can reduce the need for expensive mole removal surgery

There is no doubt that DermaTend will remove moles, warts and similar skin blemishes, but if not used with considerable care it is quite capable of removing surrounding skin, resulting in some  pain and possible scarring. So follow the instructions carefully, and it might be better to find something else for flat moles that are more or less level with the surrounding skin. A good alternative for the removal of these and other normal moles can be found on these Mole Removal  pages.

Dermatend is also quite expensive, and you would have to be very frugal with it to remove moles at a cost of anything near $5 per mole, as has been claimed. Or perhaps find a cheaper source for DermaTend, such as Amazon
